Google Nexus 7 is one of the best things happened to the Gadget World! And we are not exaggerating.
To start with, this is a beautiful looking 7-inch Tablet. It’s compact and has seamless design. Has less clutter. There is no memory slot or removable battery in Nexus 7. It contributes to its thinness and light weight. It is very easy to hold and carry.

The android device we tested was – Google Nexus 7 16 GB, WiFi. This device is manufactured by Asus. Various versions are on the offer in market. Detailed technical specifications and other details areavailable on Google Website. Hence, we will not go in to details.

Now, this is one powerful tablet. NVIDIA® Tegra® 3 quad-core processor makes it faster. Configurations are superb for game-play and web. Nexus 7 has 1.2 MP front camera. Display is crisp and better than various other tablets, priced way above the Nexus 7. It is very good for reading eBooks.  Battery life is good and lasts for long duration. We hardly ran out of battery during our tests.

The major USP of Nexus series is the Android Updates. These devices immediately receive operating system updates and upgrades. Gone are the days when we had to wait for our mobile/tablet device manufacturer to provide the updates. Sometimes it took months, even years. And there was always the suspense. Whether my device is listed for updates, or not? With Nexus, you can always boast of latest version. Something to brag about, huh?

So, Nexus 7 runs on latest Android version 4.2, Jelly Bean. Jelly Bean is the best Android OS according to us. Please read more about its features on TechRadar.

Stock Android Keyboard is superb. It also has the Swype functionality. The predictions are good. We are the fans of SwiftKey keyboard application and have it installed on our mobile devices. But, such is the ease of use of stock Android keyboard, we did not even think about switching to other third party keyboard application for Nexus 7.

Chrome runs smoothly on the Tablet. It offers completely satisfying web-browsing experience. WiFi connectivity is excellent. Pages load faster due to top of the notch hardware configurations.

The most important aspect of Nexus 7, for us, is its capability as eBook Reader. We installed Amazon’s Android Kindle Application from Google Play Store. Reading eBooks is extremely comfortable on this tablet. It is easy to hold in one hand. It’s about the size of paperbacks. Brightness can be set to auto mode, so that it can adjust automatically. In addition to that, we found that mostly the prices of Kindle eBooks are less compared to the paperbacks (and of course hardcovers). The fonts, backgrounds can be selected by the Readers as per their choice. In addition to Kindle, there are various other Android applications available in the Android market. So, happy reading!

If you have a decent mobile with Hotspot capabilities, then we will suggest you to go for Wi-Fi only option for the Tablet. The 3G/2G internet connection on mobile could be shared by Tablet through Wi-Fi connectivity. This will save a lot of bucks.

We have used Nexus 7 for two months and it never fails to satisfy. It always exceeds the expectations and performs magnificently. And as we all know, it’s a very low cost device. It outperforms a number of tablets in higher price range with its design, specifications and performance.

We strongly recommend Google Nexus 7.
